A towing chain is a rope or chain that a vehicle uses for towing or pulling another vehicle.you don’t really need to use a regular tow chain as the main method to secure a vehicle to a wheel lift or flatbed tow truck. If a vehicle is stuck in a ditch then a tow chain helps the vehicle to completely come out from it. The tow chain has two hooks on both sides that easily hold the two vehicles. The best chain for towing is grade 70 (G70). Grade 70 chains are manufactured by a heating process which gives it high strength and durability. It is 20% stronger than grade 43. They are basically used for trucking  trailer tie-down, heavy towing and heavy load securement. A tie-down strap that is also called Ratchet Strap with E Fitting is a cargo control system that is very popular to fasten cargo.

What Factors Are Present In Grade 70 (G70)

Grade 30 and 43 chains are also used for towing heavy loads of vehicles and securement. But grade 70 is much stronger than both grade chains. G70 provides more strength and durability. It is also known as a transport chain and is designed for use as a lashing for transportation. It is made of heat-treated carbon steel; therefore, this chain has more strength. Grade 70 chain commonly comes in a gold chromate finish for its easy identification and protection from scratches and abrasion. It has numbers 7, 70, and 700 printed on each link.

What Are Dry Van Trailer Straps

Dry Van Trailer Straps are special belts or bands which are used to tie down and secure the items inside the dry van trailer. These straps prevent the cargo from moving or shifting during transportation. It is like a belt or rope that holds everything in place inside the vehicle so that it doesn’t slide down from the trailer while it is moving.

Features And Benefits Of Grade 70

  • Grade 70 is an electrically welded transport chain with a number embossed L7. It is used for transporting heavy items and towing heavy vehicles. Metal links are welded together using an electronic method, ensuring a reliable and solid construction.
  • Grade 70 meets and goes from the security standards which are set by NACM and ASTM but specially by A391 and A413. These standards ensure that the grade 70 is tested and made according to specific guidelines and reviewed by users to ensure that it meets high-quality and safety requirements.
  • The finish of the grade 70 is a yellow coating that is called D chromate(Hex Free). This coating not only gives a yellow colour to the chain but also protects it from the environment.
  • It should not exceed the capacity of the towing chain.
  • First it is proof tested and certified, then it is allowed for use in lifting heavy weights and towing vehicles containing heavy loads.
  •  A Ratchet Strap with E Fitting works to hold the items in place and protect them from sliding around.

Conclusion

Grade 70 (G70) is a chain which is used for lifting heavy weight and for towing the vehicle from another vehicle. However, the use of Dry Van Trailer Straps is for protecting the items from sliding. Grade 70 towing chain and trailer straps are both used for protection.
