Different Types Of Flatbeds Used For Transporting Material.

Loading

For transportation purposes, trucks and trailers are used on a regular basis. There are different types of trucks available for transportation purposes, like dry vans, flatbed trucks, lowboy trailers, tanker trailers, double drop trailers, and many more. However, whenever there is a need to transport something heavy, then, in that case, flatbed trucks are the best option. Material related to construction, agriculture, or logistics can be easily transported with the help of flatbed trucks. Oversized equipment can easily be transferred through these types of trucks as in the case of enclosed; it is not practical to do so owing to less space.

Different types of flatbeds for transporting material

Standard flatbed trailer

It is a widely used truck for transporting material. Only a level deck is there. Loading and unloading can be easily done as people can load the material from all three sides without any inconvenience. Building materials such as lumber, concrete pipes, and steel beams are transported through these trucks. Along with that, it is also used for transporting machinery, equipment, palletized freight, and heavy-duty parts. However, ratchet straps are used to secure these materials properly to avoid any kind of damage.

Step deck trailer

Step deck trailer consists of two deck levels, the upper one and the lower one. On the lower deck, one can place the items that are more in height. Enough space is there to load the material.

If you are looking for a truck that is perfect for transporting large industrial equipment, like generators and HVAC units, farm machinery such as tractors and others, and prefabricated structures, then this trailer is best for you for transporting such items from one place to another.

Lowboy trailer

The main advantage of this trailer is its deck height, being extremely low. If a person finds difficulty in loading the material on the trailer, then this trailer should be preferred. There are certain rules pertaining to the height limits of the material on trailers as well; for that purpose, these trailers are perfect to be used.

For transporting bulldozers, excavators, loaders, military vehicles, and heavy construction machinery, this trailer is used to secure things with the use of ratchet straps and chains.

Removable Gooseneck trailer

A lowboy and removable gooseneck trailer are the same, with only one difference in the case of a removable gooseneck trailer: the front section is detachable. Just because of its feature of being detachable, a loading ramp can be created for easy load of material. In fact, a person can oneself load all the material on the trailer. Oversized materials and construction materials are the ones that are transported through this.

Extendable flatbed trailer

Another name for this type of trailer is the stretch flatbed. This flatbed can be extended if there is more load. While transporting some pipelines or wind turbine blades, precast concrete beams, and aircraft components, preference for this type of trailer is given.

Curtain side trailer

This type of trailer is used when you want to do loading conveniently as the curtains on the sides can be pulled down while loading and can be pulled up when loading is done. If you are transporting something that is a bit sensitive and needs protection from the weather, then opting for this trailer is the most prudent approach. You can transport any type of materials, whether it is construction-related, logistic-related, or agriculture-related; flatbed trailers are the best in this regard, providing the benefit of easy loading and unloading. However, one still needs securing tools to secure the material precisely to save it from any damage. For having the best securing tools, Brampton Straps is there that deals with the securing tools of all kinds of trailers. Just at one point, you will get everything, from ratchet straps to chains.
